Day 1 - 4
Thornybush Game Lodge is one of South Africa’s most established safari lodges, located in a private Big Five reserve on the edge of the Kruger National Park. As one of the country’s first commercial camps, it has set the standard for safari excellence for over 60 years, offering unforgettable wildlife experiences in a relaxed, luxurious setting.
The lodge’s 16 elegant suites are spacious and private, each with large sliding doors that open onto the bush, outdoor showers, and thoughtful touches like soft robes and slippers. Expect warm hospitality, beautifully prepared meals, and time to unwind with a cocktail at the bar or a dip in the pool overlooking a dry riverbed where wildlife often passes by.
Twice-daily game drives are led by experienced guides and trackers who bring the African bush to life. From lions and leopards to elephants and rhinos, sightings here are consistently impressive. Between drives, guests can enjoy treatments at the Wellness Centre, a workout in the gym, or simply relax on the viewing deck.
For families or small groups, Kamara House—our exclusive-use villa—offers a private experience with a dedicated guide and chef.
This lodge combines classic comfort, game viewing, and warm, attentive service that keeps guests coming.
Day 1
Day Notes:
Upon landing at Hoedspruit Airport, you will be met and transferred to Thornybush Game Lodge, your home in the bush for the next 4 days. You will be able to enjoy your first afternoon game drive.

Day 2 - 3
Day Notes:
The morning game drive starts at sunrise. You will be woken up before sunrise for tea and coffee before the game drive starts. Then you are off for 3 hours to find as many animals as possible before they all find trees to hide under in the heat of the day.
When the game drive returns to the lodge, you will be served a big cooked breakfast and have time to relax. You can sit by the pool, read a book, take a nap and just absorb being out in the bush.
The afternoon game drive will start around 16:00, after high tea. It will last for +-3 hours, with a stop somewhere for sundowners. You will return to the lodge in the dark, with a spotlight to look for nocturnal animals

Booking a safari isn't easy when you start with a google search. i sent out emails to five companies. Indigo's response time and follow up, alongside suggestions, were the best by far.
