Madikwe Game Reserve, South Africa

Bordering Botswana in South Africa’s North West Province, Madikwe Game Reserve is the fifth-largest reserve in the country and is home to a great number of animal species. It contains a wild dog reserve, and is inhabited by the world-renowned Big Five, as well as Brown Hyenas, Cheetahs, and Aardwolf. Visitors will also be surrounded by over 300 bird species, including vulture, ostrich, and the large kori bustard. The landscape is characterised by vast grasslands, woodlands, and the rugged Tshwene Tshwene hills - creating enthralling scenes that often attract photographers and artists. Visitors can look forward to sunset drinks overlooking the Madikwe Dam. Madikwe Game Reserve is one of the only reserves in South Africa that is malaria free.

    Day 1 - 4

    Succumb to the peace and tranquility of this spectacular setting. Enjoy total privacy and your own, heated plunge pool while you pamper yourself in the spacious luxury of your chalet. All chalets are air-conditioned for warm summer evenings, have a Morso fireplace for the cool winter nights, and can be converted to offer 2 single, separated beds. All rooms are fully equipped with free wifi, coffee and tea stations and a fully stocked bar fridge (included). The en-suite bathrooms have an oval bath, twin basins, indoor and outdoor showers. Dining alfresco under a glorious African night sky, warmed by a roaring fire is a magical way to end a perfect day. Traditional Southern African cuisine is complimented by a selection of world-class local wines.

Day Notes:

You will be met in Johannesburg and driven to Madikwe Game Reserve. After checking in, join your first shared afternoon game drive.

Day 2 - 3

Day Notes:

You will enjoy an early morning game drive followed by a cooked breakfast.

After breakfast, you can relax with a book by the pool, or journey on a guided bush walk. In the afternoon, you will go on a shared game drive and then come back to the lodge for dinner.

Sabi Sand Private Kruger Reserve Safari

Indigo recommended several options for our trip, and we finally decided on Umkumbe Bush Lodge for our 3 night safari - it was an incredible unforgettable experience, the lodge itself was wonderful with great amenities, excellent food/drinks, and great tour guides. We saw all of the big 5 along with countless other wildlife, and I would highly recommend the whole experience.

South Africa – Kruger Private Reserve Safari

We stayed at the Honeyguide Mantobeni Camp in the Manyeleti Game Reserve which boarders without a fence to Kruger National Park. The location, camp and accommodations were superb. Michele, our Safari consultant did an outstanding job on understanding what we wanted. Her service and our Safari were perfect 10's!!

South Africa: 19-day Cape Town, Garden Route & Madikwe Safari

This was my second trip through Indigo Safaris, after Papua New Guinea in August. It came about at the last minute as the coup in Madagascar cancelled a trip booked previously through another company. Christopher spring into action and put together a wonderful itinerary for a trip combining a self-drive along the Garden Route that was so much easier than I thought it would be, tours around Cape Town, and a safari to Madikwe before returning to the Cape.
The accommodations were excellent, and that was before we got an upgrade in Cape Town, the scenery so varied, and the wildlife stunning. I'm looking forward to seeing what can be put together for our next trip with more than one week's notice!
