Southern Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe

Located in western Zimbabwe, Hwange National Park (formerly Wankie Game Reserve) is the largest natural reserve in the country and is famous for its rich diversity of wildlife. Home to one of the biggest elephant populations in the world, as well as around 100 mammal species, the park is popular among animal lovers. Several protected species inhabit the awe-inspiring open landscapes, including the endangered wild dog, critically endangered black rhino, and rare roan and sable - along with lion, cheetah, and around 500 bird species. Adventurers can look forward to guided bush hikes, game drives, and horse riding safaris, all of which offer excellent photographic opportunities.

African Bush Camps Somalisa Expeditions

Day 1 - 4

Somalisa Expeditions is a year-round off-the-beaten-track Experience situated within Hwange National Park - Zimbabwe's largest and most renowned wildlife reserve, famed for its high populations of African elephant. This expansive park boasts a diverse range of landscapes and ecosystems, from the arid fringes of the Kalahari Desert to the dense woodlands of mopane and teak. Become one with the wild as only canvas and gauze separate you from the African bush.

Day Notes:

Your journey starts at VIctoria Falls Airport. From here, you will catch a light aircraft flight into Hwange National Park. You will be met at the airstrips and transferred to your camp. After settling in, you can enjoy your first shared afternoon game drive.

Mana Pools National Park, Zimbabwe

Located in northern Zimbabwe, the life-giving power of the Zambezi River makes Mana Pools National Park one of Zimbabwe’s most lush and flourishing regions. Characterised by a diversity of landscapes including floodplains, forests, and baobab trees, the park has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its natural beauty; providing a fantastic destination for photographers. It is an Important Bird Area and is also one of the continent’s premier game-viewing locations, known for its good chances of seeing elephants, wild dogs, lions, and leopards. Visitors can look forward to an array of activities such as canoe trips, guided walks, game drives, river cruises, nature walks, bird watching, and catch-and-release fishing.

African Bush Camps Kanga Expeditions

Day 4 - 6

Kanga Expeditions is situated in a private concession within the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Mana Pools National Park. Infamous for their walking safaris, guests can experience Mana Pools rich vegetation and predator sightings which includes lion and the rare and endangered wild dog. The camp itself overlooks Kanga Pan which is an essential water supply for a multitude of different wildlife and bird species during the dry season. This means that the surrounding wildlife frequently visits the pans for a leisurely drink.

Day 6 - 8

Located on the banks of the mighty Zambezi River, Zambezi Expeditions is your chance to become one with the wild. Situated within Mana Pools National Park – a UNESCO World Heritage Site comprised of four permanent watering holes that attract wildlife year-round – Zambezi Expeditions falls nothing short of extraordinary.

Day 4

Day Notes:

After your last morning game drive and breakfast in Hwange, you will be transferred back to the airstrip to catch your light aircraft flight to Mana Pools National Park. Once you land, you will be met by your new guide who will transfer you to camp. You can enjoy your first shared afternoon game drive in your new surroundings.

Today, you will walk from Kanga Camp to your new camp, Zambezi Expeditions (can be driven as well, if you don't want to walk, but walking in this area is fantastic for those who wish to get out of the vehicle and get even closer to nature). Whereas Kanga Camp is set back from the river, Zambezi Expeditions is right at the waterfront and will provide a different experience.
