Mogotlho Safari Lodge captures the very essence of Africa and provides guests with a secluded Botswana getaway on the Khwai River. This Khwai River safari lodge, bordered by the Chobe National Park and Moremi Game Reserve, is a choice for the conscious safari enthusiast. The luxury tented camp is built off-grid, seamlessly blending into the lush natural surroundings. Guests can immerse themselves into a true African experience with an array of excursions on offer, including game drives and walking safaris, guided and hosted by Mogotlho’s passionate guide team. Each of the 13 tents at this safari camp has been placed to ensure unspoiled panoramic views of the African bush. With each tent having an unobstructed view of the Khwai River, there will be ample opportunity to observe the local wildlife and ever-changing landscape from the privacy of your balcony.
Day 1
Day Notes:
After you land at the Khwai Airstrip, you will be met and transferred to Mogotlho Safari Lodge in the Khwai Concession, a fringe area of the Okavango Delta, known for its high predator population. Settle in and then enjoy your first shared afternoon game drive.

Ines was very professional and patient with all the setbacks my family faced not only with COVID issues but also with finding dates and availability of our travelers. Dealing with airline cancellations and Covid testing was challenging even until departure. We could not have traveled so "easily" under the circumstances without her!

Coming out of our life in our luxury UAE bubble to 1 vehicle for 2 weeks with 3 nationalities and 5 people/personalities, making this a rewarding exploration of Botswana could have been a challenge in itself.
Catering for individual needs in a group is a challenge that Christopher masters whilst at the same time multitasking as a patient driver, amazing chef & experienced field guide with us the guests helping pitch tents, prepping veg & doing the dishes.
Being in the lush green Okavango Delta with amazing campfire dinners to break the ice set the expectations for the game drives and camping in Moremi, Savuti, Chobe, Vic Falls and Nxai Pan.

Matt at Indigo Safaris arranged a fantastic trip for us! He was so helpful; willing to investigate every crazy request and answer every question :)
We experienced a wide range of habitats, from delta to desert, and saw the Big 5 plus so much more. A highlight of the trip was something we’d never heard of until Matt suggested it - a night sleeping under the African sky on an open 2-story platform, alongside a waterhole visited by lions, elephants, and other wild creatures throughout the night. The stars were absolutely magical!
All the internal flights arrived like clockwork. We were delighted with the intimate “mid-range” camps we chose with Matt’s advice. Each of them was very comfortable, employed lovely staff, offered good food, and had prompt laundry service. One of the best features of our trip was having close-up encounters with elephants and other animals as they roamed through these small camps.
We followed up our adventure with a stay at the Victoria Falls Safari Lodge, and it was the perfect touch of luxury after our time in the bush.
We’ve enjoyed previous safaris in Tanzania, Kenya, and the Pantanal Wetlands of Brazil, and we were delighted that Matt and Indigo were able to provide such a totally different experience for us. Would love to work with them again someday!
