Khwai Conservancy, Botswana

Located between the Chobe National Park and the Moremi Game Reserve in Botswana, the 200 000-hectare Khwai Conservancy is an enthralling place of wild landscapes and abundant wildlife. The plentiful Khwai River running through the park and dense Mopani forests in the interior provide the perfect home for numerous animals, and the incredible scenes of animals drinking from the river allow for superb photography opportunities. Visitors can look forward to seeing large elephant herds, and spotting lions, leopards and hyenas quite easily. Other species include wild dog, zebra, giraffe, wildebeest, buffalo, lions, cheetahs, leopard, hyenas, hippos, Kudu, Tsessebe, and reasonably rare Roan and Sable. Hiking, game drives, guided walks, spa treatments, and open-air camping are just some of the activities on offer.

    Day 1 - 4

    Situated in the game rich Khwai area on the eastern tongue of the Okavango Delta, lies the sophisticated Machaba Camp. The setting is exquisite and guests will fall in love with the understated elegant colonial architeture of Machaba. Wake up to the sounds of hippo wallowing in the Delta and enjoy outdoor dining on the banks of the Khwai.

Day 1

Day Notes:

After arrival in Maun you will catch a light aircraft flight to the Khwai conservancy. Once you land, you will be met and transferred to Machaba Camp, where you will spend the next 3 nights. After settling in, you will enjoy a shared afternoon safari activity.

Chobe National Park, Botswana

Chobe National Park is situated in the far northeast of Botswana, bordered to the north by the mighty Chobe River. It is the second-largest national park in Botswana and features four distinct ecosystems: the Savuti Channel in the west; the Linyanti Swamps in the northwest; the arid hinterland in between and Serondela in the extreme northeast with fertile plains and thick forests. This diversity of habitats provides a sanctuary to an astonishing array of African wildlife, most notably the impressive, shifting migratory population of more than 50 000 elephants. Visitors are also likely to spot lions, leopards, hyenas, wild dogs, impala, waterbuck, kudu, zebra, wildebeest, giraffes, and warthog. The park is also famous for its wonderful riverboat safaris, making Chobe an essential destination for any avid safari enthusiast.

Day Notes:

After your last shared morning activity (time permitting) and breakfast, you will be taken back to the local airstrip for your light aircraft flight transfer to Kasane. From Kasane Airport, you will be transferred to Ngoma Safari Lodge, where you will stay for another 3 nights. Settle in and then enjoy a shared afternoon safari activity.

Coming out of our life in our luxury UAE bubble to 1 vehicle for 2 weeks with 3 nationalities and 5 people/personalities, making this a rewarding exploration of Botswana could have been a challenge in itself.
