Inhambane, Mozambique

The Imhambane Province is known for its wide, almost land-locked bay and its beautiful but crumbling Portuguese architecture. Points of interest include the vibrant local market, intriguing heritage museums, charming mosques and the 200-year-old Cathedral of our Lady of Concepti. Located within close proximity are the popular beach destinations of Barra, Tofo and Guinjata Bay, which offer excellent snorkelling, diving, fishing and watersports; and the tiny, remote Ilha dos porcos which is home to traditional villages and a few of the remaining namesake wild pigs. Tofo is also an ideal destination for animal lovers, as it is home to manta rays and whale sharks, while Barra features an incredible bird estuary. It is possible to take traditional dhow boats across the bay, allowing visitors to experience it in the same way it was hundreds of years ago.

Massinga Beach sits above a stretch of endless, remarkably private, beach overlooking the azure Indian Ocean. Far from the madding crowd and offering barefoot luxury, the Lodge caters for romantics, divers; fishermen and families.

Arrive at Massinga Beach Lodge and enjoy a swim in the ocean, play games on the beach, watch a coconut cutting demonstration, or take a 2km walk on the beach and try a snorkelling session.

Day Notes:

You have 6 days to enjoy the activities available at Massinga Beach. The following are included:

Beach cycling

There are a number of optional motorised activities and various massage therapy sessions, which you can book at the lodge at extra cost.

There is a Massinga Town Tour offered at an additional cost, too. You will visit the the town, university, school, places of interest, walk through the local market, and end the tour off with a beer or soft drink at the local pub, which is included in the tour price.
