Klaserie Private Game Reserve, South Africa

Situated on the northeastern edge of South Africa, Klaserie Private Game Reserve forms part of the Greater Kruger National Park. It is one of the largest privately owned reserves in the country comprising 60 000 hectares of seemingly endless plains of unspoilt African bushveld. This scenic wilderness sanctuary is home to the renowned ‘Big Five’ as well as an impressive array of wildlife including: African elephant, black and white rhino, buffalo, African wild dog, lion, leopard, and an abundance of buck. Visitors can look forward to enjoying a variety of outdoor activities such as guided walking safaris, game drives, and thrilling wildlife tracking excursions. The reserve is known for its incredible birdlife boasting over 500 species including the endangered Southern ground hornbill and the white-backed vulture.

Day 1

Day Notes:

After arrival at Hoedspruit Airport, you will be met and transferred to Klaserie Private Game Reserve and join your first shared afternoon game drive, time permitting.

Transfer Time: ~50 minutes

Day 2 - 3

Day Notes:

During summer, an early wake-up at 05.00am starts the day (while winter is later at 05.45am). It gets very hot and guides like to bring guests back to camp before 09.00am while it is still cool. Walks take between 2 and 3 hours and are followed by a hearty breakfast at the dining table.

Between 11.00am and 14.30am guests have time to themselves. Relax with a book, take a nap with the sounds of the local birdlife, have a dip in the pool and catch a tan in the sun. At 14.30 lunch is served, consisting of salads, cheese, cold meat and a light quiche or pie.

The afternoon game drive begins at 15.30 and traverses this exceptional area of the Klaserie. At the time the sun sets, guides take their guests to a spot where they can snack on biltong, nuts and chips, while sipping on something cold. Return to the lodge by 19.30 and freshen up before dinner at about 20.30.

Sabi Sand Private Kruger Reserve Safari

Indigo recommended several options for our trip, and we finally decided on Umkumbe Bush Lodge for our 3 night safari - it was an incredible unforgettable experience, the lodge itself was wonderful with great amenities, excellent food/drinks, and great tour guides. We stayed at the Honeyguide Mantobeni Camp in the Manyeleti Game Reserve which boarders without a fence to Kruger National Park. The location, camp and accommodations were superb. Michele, our Safari consultant did an outstanding job on understanding what we wanted. Her service and our Safari were perfect 10's!!

We just returned to the States after a safari in Southern Africa and Botswana and I wanted to say how pleased we were with the camps we stayed in: Meno a Kwena, Mokolwane, and Hyena Pan. The camps and guides were incredibly knowledgeable, supportive and welcoming. We are nature lovers first and when our group had a safari vehicle to ourselves, the guides and camps were willing to make lunch for us and stay out all day. This was the absolute best and we had a blast photographing and observing.
