The world-famous elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo and rhino and over 40 other animal species roam these reclaimed farms in the heart of the Battlefields area. The reserve boasts a biodiverse landscape featuring riverine scrub, vast savannah, grasslands and thornveld.     Day 1 - 4

    Our Lodge is situated in the Nambiti Private Game Reserve in KZN, a private conservancy offering 22 000 acres of malaria-free bushveld. The Reserve is home to the Big 5, incl Cheetah, Hippo and over 30 species of plains game. Nature lovers will enjoy the area's biodiversity, Thornveld and majestic Acacia trees complementing grasslands which mirror the plains of Central Africa. The perennial rivers, beautiful waterfall and cascades on the Sundays River makes for a unique sanctuary, attracting several rare bird species and an enviable array of raptors and vultures.

Day 1

Day Notes:

After arrival at Durban (can also be arranged from/to Johannesburg for a supplement) airport you will be met by a driver who will transfer you to Nambiti Private Reserve, where you will be staying for the next 3 nights at the Springbok Lodge. In the afternoon you will go on your first shared game drive (time permitting).

Day 2 - 3

Day Notes:

The morning game drive starts at sunrise. You will be woken up before sunrise for tea and coffee before the game drive starts. Then you are off for 3 hours to find as many animals as possible before they all find trees to hide under in the heat of the day.

When the game drive returns to the lodge, you will be served a big cooked breakfast and have time to relax. You can sit by the pool, read a book, take a nap and just absorb being out in the bush.

The afternoon game drive will start around 16:00, after high tea. It will last for +-3 hours, with a stop somewhere for sundowners. You will return to the lodge in the dark, with a spotlight to look for nocturnal animal.

This was an amazing trip that we simply would not have found had it not been for Indigo Safaris. From the initial enquiry right through to booking and post trip, they were a delight to deal with. Wow! What a place. Just three hours from Durban, this was an amazing safari. It was just the perfect blend of super organised, yet relaxed, great animal watching (but very much still wild); lovely food (and plenty of it). And the ambience was one of enjoyment in a premium setting. not luxury and stand-offish. Everything just worked, from 1pm arrival to 10am leaving three days later, we were looked after by real people doing a great job.

There are only positive things to say about our trip to Rhino lodge and St Lucia: the accommodation was top quality, great food, a very well organised trip and the staff were very helpful.
We saw rhinos, some lions, wild dogs, plenty of different antelope. Plus giraffes, which we got to walk amongst in the veld.
Overall, it was a very special experience for my companions and myself.
