The landscape features 65 000 hectares of savannah-covered land interspersed with watering holes, dry river beds, Lowveld woodlands, and the perennial Sabi and Sand rivers. This spectacular reserve offers exceptional game viewing opportunities with frequent sightings of the renowned Big Five as well as cheetah, zebra, giraffe, and a variety of antelope. Day 1 - 4

Umkumbe Safari Lodge Riverside is one of the most affordable lodges located in the heart of the Sabie Game Reserve in the Greater Kruger. The reserve is about 65000 hectares and shares unfenced borders with the Kruger National Park.

Day 1

Day Notes:

Upon arrival at Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport, you will be met and transferred to Umkumbe Safari Lodge Riverside, where you will stay in a luxury tented suite. Once you arrive at the lodge, settle in, and enjoy high tea before setting out on your first shared afternoon game drive to begin your search for the animals, including the Big Five.

Day 2 - 3

Day Notes:

The morning game drive starts at sunrise. You will wake up before dawn for tea and coffee before the game drive starts. Then, you are off for 3 hours to find as many animals as possible before they all find trees to hide under in the heat of the day.

When the game drive returns to the lodge, you will be served a delicious hot breakfast and have time to relax. You can sit by the pool, read a book, take a nap and absorb being out in the bush. If you prefer an activity-filled day, guided bush walks are on offer.

After high tea, the afternoon game drive will start around 3:30–4:00 PM. It will last for +-3 hours, with a stop somewhere for sundowners. You will return to the lodge in the dark, with a spotlight to look for nocturnal animals.
