The landscape features 65 000 hectares of savannah-covered land interspersed with watering holes, dry river beds, Lowveld woodlands, and the perennial Sabi and Sand rivers. This spectacular reserve offers exceptional game viewing opportunities with frequent sightings of the renowned Big Five as well as cheetah, zebra, giraffe, and a variety of antelope. Visitors can enjoy excellent wildlife viewing, dining under the stars, guided bush walks and enjoying a stay in some of South Africa’s most luxurious safari lodges.

    Nestled near the seasonal Sand River, in a beautiful forested thicket, Umkumbe Bush Lodge is situated in one of the most sought after safari destinations in Southern Africa. This brand new family-run lodge is located in the wildlife rich Sabie Game Reserve which forms part of the Greater Kruger and shares unfenced borders with famed Kruger National Park.

Day 1

Day Notes:

When you land at Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport, you will be met and transferred to Umkumbe Bush Lodge, your home in the bush for the next three nights. After checking in, settle down and head out on your first shared afternoon/night game drive. Returning in the evening, you will enjoy a delicious dinner followed by drinks around the campfire.

Day 2 - 3

Day Notes:

Wake up before dawn for the morning game drive, starting at sunrise. Savour a hot coffee and an early-morning snack before boarding the safari vehicle and departing the lodge in search of animals. Spend 3 hours traversing the bush and looking out for wildlife before they retreat to the shelter of a tree in the heat of the day. 

After returning to the lodge for a delectable hot breakfast, you’ll have time to relax and unwind, surrounded by serene African wilderness. Lounge at the pool, delve into a captivating book, have a blissful nap, or simply soak up the sights, sounds and scents of nature. Bush walks are on offer for an additional fee.

Afternoon tea is served before your next game drive, departing around 3:30 - 4:30 PM, depending on the time of year. Enjoy a sundowner stop in the bush. Dinner is served before you settle in for the night to the symphony of the wild.
