Timbavati Private Nature Reserve, South Africa

Located in the Mpumalanga Province, the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve shares a fenceless border with the world-renowned Kruger National Park. This magnificent 60 000 hectare reserve is best known for its two very rare white lions discovered here in the 1970s, which gave this destination its name. Meaning 'the place where something sacred came down to earth from the heavens', the park lives up to the hype with its enthralling African savannah, abundant wildlife, and friendly people. Visitors have the opportunity to see 40 mammal species, 360 bird species and the famous Big Five (lion, leopard, rhinoceros, elephant, and Cape buffalo). Enjoy a wide array of activities including daytime safaris, guided night game drives, bush walks, and excellent bird watching.

Day Notes:

You will be met at Hoedspruit Airport and taken to Timbavati Private Game Reserve, where you will start your safari with 3 nights at Simbavati Trails Camp. After settling in, time permitting, go on your first shared afternoon walking safari.

Day Notes:

Enjoy guided walks with expert guides, one of the most stimulating and enthralling forms of safari. Trails Camp borders, without fences, an unspoilt wilderness area of 11,000 hectares in the Kruger National Park.

There is no electricity, WiFi, or cell phone reception. Just you, in the heart of an untamed African wildlife wonderland. Hearty and delicious meals are prepared over an open fire by an expert cook.

Booking a safari isn't easy when you start with a google search. i sent out emails to five companies. Indigo's response time and follow up, alongside suggestions, were the best by far. They seemed committed to want to listen to what i wanted, not just what they had to offer. Despite booking nine months in advance, I really appreciated being given an email a month before the holiday to reconfirm everything. It's the thoughtful, small things like this that I felt set them apart. I would very much recommend them. The lodge they suggested was excellent, and exactly what we were looking for.

We stayed at the Honeyguide Mantobeni Camp in the Manyeleti Game Reserve which boarders without a fence to Kruger National Park. The location, camp and accommodations were superb.
