Day 1 - 4
Established to protect the previously endangered white rhino, , Hluhluwe iMfolozi Game Reserve is a triumph of conservation efforts. Celebrate this legacy in exclusive luxury at Rhino Ridge Safari Lodge - the only private lodge in the reserve - offering exceptional safari experiences in the heart of Big 5 territory. 18 well appointed, air-conditioned rooms nestle on a ridge, each with their own private deck giving expansive and uninterrupted views of the reserve. The lodge, built in 2015, is designed in a contemporary style with overtones of organic forms utilising natural finishes and materials.

Day Notes:
Upon arrival at King Shaka Airport, you will be met and transferred to Hluhluwe, where you will spend the next 3 nights on safari at Rhino Ridge Safari Lodge. Settle in and then enjoy your first shared afternoon game drive.

Day 2 - 3
Day Notes:
Wake up before dawn for the morning game drive, starting at sunrise. Savour a hot coffee and an early-morning snack before boarding the safari vehicle and departing the lodge in search of animals. Spend 3 hours traversing the bush and looking out for wildlife before they retreat to the shelter of a tree in the heat of the day.
After returning to the lodge for a delectable hot breakfast, you’ll have time to relax and unwind, surrounded by serene African wilderness. Lounge at the pool, delve into a captivating book, have a blissful nap, or simply soak up the sights, sounds and scents of nature.
Afternoon tea is served before your next game drive, departing around 3:30 - 4:30 pm, depending on the time of year. Dinner is served before you settle in for the night to the symphony of the wild.

Day 4 - 6
At the foot of the legendary Ghost Mountain in the charming little town of Mkuze in the Northern KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, lies the privately owned, award-winning Ghost Mountain Inn. This beautiful, intimate hotel is the ideal location from which to explore the game and coastal reserves of the Elephant Coast. Discover the abundance of wildlife and scenic splendours of this rich and diverse region during game drives, guided walks and boat cruises in the company of knowledgeable rangers. Alternatively, be pampered with skin and body treatments at the on-site spa or simply enjoy the pools, gym and glorious indigenous gardens. Rooms at the Ghost Mountain Inn offer a private patio, a satellite TV, a minibar and a tea/coffee maker. Some rooms are more spacious and include a refrigerator.
Day 4
Day Notes:
After enjoying a last shared morning game drive and breakfast, you will be transferred to Ghost Mountain Inn in Zululand for the next 2 nights. Settle in and enjoy some leisure time.

Day 5
Day Notes:
Today, you will go on a boat cruise on Lake Jozini. Lake Jozini lies in a dramatic setting at the foot of the Lebombo Mountains and is one of South Africa’s largest dams. Several exquisite gorges abound with cycads and a wide variety of birds. On the western side of the dam, one might see elephants, rhinos, hippos and crocodiles.
You also have a ZAR 500 spa voucher included in your stay, so before or after the boat cruise, you can enjoy a spa treatment.

We saw rhinos, some lions, wild dogs, plenty of different antelope. Plus giraffes, which we got to walk amongst in the veld.
Overall, it was a very special experience for my companions and myself.

Wow! What a place. Just three hours from Durban, this was an amazing safari. It was just the perfect blend of super organised, yet relaxed, great animal watching (but very much still wild); lovely food (and plenty of it).
