Formerly the northern part of Selous Game Reserve, Nyerere National Park is Tanzania's largest National Park. Stretching over an impressive 30,893 square kilometres, the park is home to some of the world’s largest concentrations of wildlife, and the incredible diversity and sheer volume of animals draw visitors from around the globe. Travellers can look forward to spotting a wide collection of common and rare species including the famous Big Five, some rare species of antelopes like Roan Antelope, and large concentrations of elephant and hippos. Don’t miss the opportunity to take a boating safari on the exquisite Rufiji River, spot the endangered African wild dog, and enjoy a guided walking safari with a highly knowledgeable guide.

    Day 1 - 4

    Selous Kinga Lodge is located next to the Rufiji River just outside of Nyerere National Park in Tanzania. The lodge features comfortably furnished cottages that are equipped with modern amenities, including Wi-Fi access, air conditioning, a hairdryer, and a private bathroom. Guests can enjoy food options, made from locally sourced ingredients, from the onsite restaurant's continental menu. Additional facilities and services include a garden, a swimming pool, and a 24/7 reception staff.

Day 1

Day Notes:

You will be picked up from your hotel or the airport in Dar es Salaam in the morning.  You will be driven to Nyerere National Park (ex Selous Game Reserve) and when you arrive, lunch will be served.  After checking in, head out on an afternoon sunset safari cruise on the Rufiji River.

Transfer Time: ~5 hours

  • Shared sunset boat safari

Day 2

Day Notes:

After breakfast, depart on a full day game drive through Nyerere National Park with a packed lunch. The guide will take into account any special requests you have and show you the richness of wildlife that this habitat has to offer. Return to the lodge for dinner.

After breakfast, you will head out on a shared full-day game drive including a visit to the Chemka Hot Springs. The Chemka Hot Springs, are a natural geothermal oasis!
