Eastern Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe

Located in western Zimbabwe, Hwange National Park (formerly Wankie Game Reserve) is the largest natural reserve in the country and is famous for its rich diversity of wildlife. Home to one of the biggest elephant populations in the world, as well as around 100 mammal species, the park is a wonderland for animal lovers. Several protected animals inhabit the awe-inspiring open landscapes, including the endangered wild dog, critically endangered black rhino, and rare roan and sable - along with lion, cheetah, and around 500 bird species. Adventurers can look forward to guided bush hikes, game drives, and horse riding safaris, all of which offer excellent photographic opportunities. Hwange boasts several unique natural features, most notably the natural seeps such as Nehimba and Shakwanki animals dig for water.

    This comfortable and well-appointed lodge is nestled in a remote and untouched corner on the edge of Hwange National Park in our 5000 acre private reserve, and is famous for its impressive herds of elephant, not to mention many other spectacular species of wildlife.

Day 1

Day Notes:

When you land at Victoria Falls Airport, you will be met and begin your adventure to Hwange National Park. First, you will be transferred by road to Dete Railway Station. Once here, you will board the Elephant Express train to Ngamo Siding, where you will be collected by Bomani Lodge. You will have your first afternoon game drive.

*The Elephant Express does not run between 1 Jan - 30 April  2025 & 2026, and during this time you will  enjoy a road transfer to Bomani Lodge

  • Transfer from Victoria Falls International Airport [VFA] to Dete Railway Station

  • Train from Dete Railway Station to Ngamo Siding

  • Transfer from Ngamo Siding to Bomani Tented Lodge

  • Check-in to Bomani Tented Lodge

  • Shared afternoon game drive

Day 2 - 3

Day Notes:

Activities included at Bomani Tented Lodge are the following:  

  • Morning and afternoon game drives
  • Walks
  • Hide sits
  • Ngamo community experience
  • School tour  (not available in April, August and December - Mid January during school holidays)
  • Canoeing (available on the Ngamo Plains from January – March 2025 weather dependent and on special request)

  • Transfer from Bomani Tented Lodge to Ngamo Siding
