Located in northern Zimbabwe, the life-giving power of the Zambezi River makes Mana Pools National Park one of Zimbabwe’s most lush and flourishing regions. Characterised by a diversity of landscapes including floodplains, forests, and baobab trees, the park has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its natural beauty; providing a fantastic destination for photographers. It is an Important Bird Area and is also one of the continent’s premier game-viewing locations, known for its good chances of seeing elephants, wild dogs, lions, and leopards. Visitors can look forward to an array of activities such as canoe trips, guided walks, game drives, river cruises, nature walks, bird watching, and catch-and-release fishing.

    Day 1 - 4

    Mana Pools National Park is situated on the banks of the mighty Zambezi River where you will find John's Camp nestled amongst canopies of Trichelia and Mahogany trees. It is a truly natural wilderness and the only wild walking National Park in Africa. Across the vast floodplain, one can walk with the giants - African Bull Elephants, dine amidst herds of buffalo, gaze upon a pride of lions, enjoy sundowners with hippos on the banks of the Zambezi River and bird watch over 400 species of birds. The camp comprises of 12 beds, made up of 6 twins or double en-suite Meru-style tents, a common dining area and a star gazing sleep-out platform for the more adventurous safari traveller.

Day 1

Day Notes:

Upon your arrival at Harare International Airport, a Robin Pope Safaris representative will meet you and assist you to catch your 1.5 hour light aircraft flight to Mana Pools National Park, where a John’s Camp team member will meet you and transfer you to Johns Camp. You will spend the next 3 nights here, and once you check in, you will enjoy your first shared afternoon game drive.

Day 4

Day Notes:

Today you are off onto your next stop across the border, Zambia. An early morning will see you on a boat transfer to Chirundu, border formalities, and then a road transfer to Lusaka, Zambia.

On arrival at Lusaka Airport, you will be met by a Robin Pope Safaris' representative who will assist you with checking in for your flight to Mfuwe in South Luangwa.

Once you land at Mfuwe Airport, a guide from Robin Pope Safaris will meet you and transfer you to Nkwali Camp. After settling in, you will enjoy a shared afternoon game drive.

Cape Maclear, Malawi

Located on the southern shore of Lake Malawi at the tip of the Nankumba Peninsula, Cape Maclear is a little resort town surrounded by mountains and set within Lake Malawi National Park. This town features an array of beachside bars and local restaurants in a spectacularly scenic setting of golden sand beaches lapped by dazzling turquoise water. Cape Maclear is a Robinson-Crusoe paradise, making it a sought after tourist destination. Kayak over to the nearby Thumbi island and spot the majestic fish eagle, sail across the lake and catch a picturesque African sunset, or scuba dive into the crystal-clear depths of the lake, which boasts some of the best freshwater diving in the world. Other popular activities include: bird watching, windsurfing, hiking, swimming or shopping in the local craft markets as well as island tours and guided village walks.

    Day 7 - 11

    Pumulani is situated on the westside of the Nankumba Peninsula in the South end of Lake Malawi. The beauty of this lake is indescribable. The beautiful sparkling colours shimmering over the water, the clear blue skies and the panoramic vistas truly make you feel like you are in paradise. David Livingstone named Lake Malawi ‘Lake of Stars’ for good reason. According to experts this lake is home to more native fish species than any other lake in the world.

Day 7

Day Notes:

After a morning game drive, time permitting, and breakfast, you will be transferred back to Mfuwe Airport for your flight to Lilongwe. Upon arrival at Lilongwe Airport, a representative of Robin Pope Safaris will be waiting for you. You will be directed to catch your light aircraft flight to the local airstrip near Pumulani Lodge.

Once you arrive at the airstrip, the road transfer to Pumulani Lodge will take about 45 minutes. Enjoy the stunning setting of the lodge and the unique comfort of the rooms, and choose to relax or set off on one of the many activities available to keep guests busy.
