Itinerary

Gweta, Botswana

Known as the gateway to the Makgadikgadi Pans, the tiny old Botswanan village of Gweta is a pleasant place to stay while exploring the vast salt pans. Take a guided walk or quad bike ride through Gweta’s surrounds and discover flint-head spears and other artefacts abandoned by the area’s early Stone Age inhabitants. Experience a barbeque under the star-studded African sky while sipping on traditional, organic sorghum beer or a creamy baobab milkshake. During the rainy season, the Gweta area teems with zebra and wildebeest and these, in turn, attract hungry predators such as lion and cheetah. If a unique and interesting getaway is what you are after, Gweta won’t fail to impress.

Mababe Concession, Botswana

Encompassed by a vast vegetation of dry mopane woodland, the Mababe Concession lies in a privileged yet less-frequented position between two national parks on the eastern edge of the Okavango Delta. Sluicing through the dry woodland is the Mababe Marsh at the end of the Khwai River, a regional highlight as it attracts a plethora of abundant wildlife, ranging from large predators to rare bird species. Witness massive herds of up to 2,000 buffalo and spectacular migrations of zebras—a sight to behold, especially when lions engage in daytime hunts. The forests provide sanctuary for elusive leopards, while the marsh fringes teem with diverse birdlife. Additional wildlife species found in the area comprise hyenas, cheetahs, wild dogs, bat-eared foxes, jackals, African wild cats, and servals, enriching the safari experience.

Botswana – 11-day Okavango Delta and Chobe Safari

Ines was very professional and patient with all the setbacks my family faced not only with COVID issues but also with finding dates and availability of our travelers. Dealing with airline cancellations and Covid testing was challenging even until departure. We could not have traveled so "easily" under the circumstances without her!

Helen 8-day Botswana Adventure Fly-in Safari – Private Fly-in

It was very well organized, the choice and order of the lodges was excellent giving a variety of experiences. We especially loved the small scale venues.

Absolutely brilliant

Jean 11-day Botswana & Victoria Falls Zimbabwe Value-For-Money Safari – Private fly-in

Matt at Indigo Safaris arranged a fantastic trip for us! He was so helpful; willing to investigate every crazy request and answer every question :)

We experienced a wide range of habitats, from delta to desert, and saw the Big 5 plus so much more. A highlight of the trip was something we’d never heard of until Matt suggested it - a night sleeping under the African sky on an open 2-story platform, alongside a waterhole visited by lions, elephants, and other wild creatures throughout the night. The stars were absolutely magical!

All the internal flights arrived like clockwork. We were delighted with the intimate “mid-range” camps we chose with Matt’s advice. Each of them was very comfortable, employed lovely staff, offered good food, and had prompt laundry service. One of the best features of our trip was having close-up encounters with elephants and other animals as they roamed through these small camps.

We followed up our adventure with a stay at the Victoria Falls Safari Lodge, and it was the perfect touch of luxury after our time in the bush.

We’ve enjoyed previous safaris in Tanzania, Kenya, and the Pantanal Wetlands of Brazil, and we were delighted that Matt and Indigo were able to provide such a totally different experience for us. Would love to work with them again someday!
