Why We Give Back
Because meaningful travel should leave more than footprints.
At most of the destinations we work with, we have become involved with either protecting the wildlife, helping out communities in one form or another, or both, beyond helping create stable employment for locals.
Giving back is a huge part of what we do and what we are about. Our view is that tourism isn't just about having a good time in someone else's country, it's about learning, fostering understanding, concern, and compassion. The natural world has never been as threatened as it is now and it is everyone's responsibility to do something about preserving it.
We choose suppliers and service providers that act responsibly, with the best interests of the local people and wildlife at heart, who we think will do the best job of providing our clients with an insight into not only the beauty they witness on holiday, but the threats and dangers facing it.
We put our money where our mouth is. Around 50% of our net profit is given back to causes, charities, and organisations.
Wildlife
Protecting species, preserving wild spaces.
Mara Elephant Project, Kenya: Safeguarding elephants and the people who live alongside them. We contribute to the Mara Elephant Project’s vital work in combatting poaching, collaring and monitoring elephants, and mitigating conflict with farmers. Their mission helps to preserve elephant populations while fostering coexistence between communities and wildlife.
Imvelo Trust, Zimbabwe: Linking people, wildlife, and sustainable futures. We support Imvelo Trust, a Zimbabwean initiative that blends community development with wildlife conservation. From healthcare outreach to education and conservation projects, Imvelo ensures that local people benefit directly from the protection of their environment.
Save the Rhino Trust, Namibia: Protecting one of Africa’s rarest treasures. We support Save the Rhino Trust in their efforts to safeguard Namibia’s unique, free-ranging black rhinos. Their work involves anti-poaching patrols, community engagement, and monitoring, ensuring these critically endangered animals have a future in the wild.
Painted Dog Conservation, Zimbabwe: Conservation with people at its heart. Painted Dog Conservation works to save one of Africa’s most endangered carnivores. Through anti-poaching units, rehabilitation, and education programmes, they not only protect painted dogs but also create conservation awareness and benefits for surrounding communities.
St Nicholas Animal Rescue, Dominica: Caring for animals, changing communities. We support St Nicholas Animal Rescue in Dominica, an organisation dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming abandoned and mistreated animals. Their work also focuses on community education, spay-and-neuter initiatives, and promoting responsible pet ownership, creating a safer, kinder environment for both animals and people.
Education
Providing Education
Ile Aux Enfants Charity: “By sponsoring a child, you will give him or her the chance to be free from hunger, to receive medical care and to be protected from all forms of abuse. You’ll be able to watch them grow up, and have the joy of sharing the important moments of their life through letters, photos and videos. If you wish, you can even visit them in Madagascar! An unforgettable experience and a unique way to see how much their life has improved thanks to you!”
Rainbow Kindergarten, Tembe – Kwazulu Natal: Indigo Safaris helps fund part of the staffing for Rainbow Kindergarten, located in Tembe, KwaZulu-Natal, by paying the salaries of two teaching assistants. This support enables stronger classroom assistance, more individual attention for young learners, and bolsters the kindergarten’s capacity to deliver quality early childhood education in the local community.
Peninsula School Feeding Association, South Africa: No child should have to learn on an empty stomach. We fund meals for children in South Africa through the Peninsula School Feeding Association, ensuring they receive proper nutrition every day. By providing this essential support, children are better able to focus on their education, building brighter futures and stronger communities.
Wildlife Education, KwaZulu-Natal: A child who experiences wildlife is more likely to protect it. We fund trips for children in rural KwaZulu-Natal to experience local wildlife reserves. These adventures spark curiosity and instil a passion for conservation, ensuring the next generation understands the importance of protecting their natural heritage.
Ischinde Kindergarten, Tanzania: Every child deserves the chance to learn. We co-sponsor a kindergarten in the remote village of Ischinde, providing essential resources for early childhood education. This support helps give children in rural Tanzania the foundations they need for lifelong learning.
Mahonia Na Dari – Papua New Guinea: Indigo Safaris supports Mahonia Na Dari (MND), an independent NGO in Kimbe Bay, West New Britain Province, Papua New Guinea. Since 1997, MND has been working with local communities to protect marine ecosystems and build environmental knowledge.
Educate Bwindi, Uganda: An educated girl changes everything. Through Educate Bwindi, we pay for school fees, uniforms, transport, and educational materials for two teenage girls in Uganda. Supporting their education gives them the tools to pursue their ambitions and inspires others in their community to follow.
Education Sponsorships, Mozambique & Tanzania: Education opens doors to a brighter future. We sponsor individuals in Mozambique and Tanzania through further education programmes. By helping students continue their studies, we provide opportunities for personal growth, professional development, and stronger communities.
Asaro Guesthouse, Papua New Guinea: Preserving traditions while creating opportunity. We designed and maintain a website for a guesthouse run by Asaro villagers in Papua New Guinea’s Eastern Highlands. Alongside business advice and sending guests to stay, this initiative helps villagers generate income while sharing their unique culture with the world.
Women’s Empowerment, Ngorongoro Conservation Area: We co-sponsored. Women’s initiatives create lasting ripple effects. We helped set up a women-led project in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, developing sustainable livelihoods such as the “Money for Honey” initiative. This empowerment project gives women greater independence and strengthens entire communities.
Rural Zimbabwe & Papua New Guinea Football Teams: In July 2025, we provided skills training equipment to, and spent two days with, the Ngamo Soccer Academy in Zimbabwe, teaching the coaches and kids training drills and exercises. In September 2025, we donated two sets of match shirts and balls to the Fisherman Island football league, off the coast of Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.

By supporting their work, we help ensure these children have access to schooling, nutrition, and the chance to thrive.
Orphans in the Wild, Tanzania: We supports Orphans in the Wild. Based in the Mufindi district, Tanzania, the charity provides essential care for children orphaned by HIV/AIDS and assists vulnerable families. Its core project, the Igoda Children’s Village, offers a safe home with food, healthcare, and education. Beyond this, the organisation invests in community-wide initiatives such as clinics, vocational training through the Youth Agency Mufindi (YAM), and income-generating projects like basket weaving cooperatives.

These projects empower local families with healthcare, education, and enterprise opportunities, ensuring that the benefits of tourism and conservation are shared widely.
Raising Funds & Offsetting Carbon: Every action counts, big or small. We raise funds through personal challenges, including the London Marathon for VICTA, the Paris Marathon for Médecins Sans Frontières, the Refugee Ration Challenge for Concern Worldwide, the Brighton Marathon for WWF, London Marathon for The Lords Taverners, and a solo run the length of Dominica (65km) to raise money for sports equipment and swimming aids for swimming lessons. In addition, we offset our carbon footprint, ensuring that our operations are as responsible and sustainable as possible.
Community Rhino Conservation Initiative, Hwange: We are proud to contribute to the Community Rhino Conservation Initiative in Hwange by providing essential equipment for anti-poaching patrols. These dedicated teams are the first line of defence against illegal wildlife crime, working tirelessly to protect endangered rhino and other vulnerable species. Our support helps ensure they are well-equipped to carry out their critical work safely and effectively.
Dive Training, Mafia Island, Tanzania: Training today’s youth for tomorrow’s ocean economy. We co-sponsor dive training for young locals on Mafia Island, opening doors to careers in marine tourism and conservation. These skills not only create livelihoods but also build a generation of ocean stewards who understand the value of their marine environment.

From coral reefs to coastal fisheries, they use cutting-edge science and community partnerships to protect vital marine ecosystems for future generations.
Marine Megafauna Foundation: Mantas, whale sharks, and more. The Marine Megafauna Foundation focuses on conserving large, threatened marine species through research, education, and collaboration. Our support helps ensure these iconic creatures continue to thrive in healthy oceans.
Oceans Forward, Dominica: We are proud to support Oceans Forward on Dominica with annual donations that directly contribute to the safeguarding of local marine ecosystems and turtle conservation research. By investing in vital initiatives such as habitat protection and scientific studies, we help ensure that fragile species like nesting sea turtles can thrive for generations to come. This partnership reflects our belief that meaningful travel should leave a positive impact—not only on the people we meet but also on the oceans that sustain us all.
