Itinerary

Stone Town, Tanzania

Situated on the western coast of Zanzibar’s Unguja Island, UNESCO-listed Stone Town is the oldest part of Zanzibar City and is the cultural heart of the island. The town’s photogenic winding alleys are fringed by grand historic buildings, bustling bazaars, a glorious sultan’s palace, and the intriguing House of Wonders - named as such for exhibiting running water and electricity as never before in 1883. Stone Town also boasts numerous sacred buildings - over fifty mosques, six Hindu Temples, a Catholic, and an Anglican Cathedral - all of which are beautiful in unique ways. Other highlights include sunset dhow cruises; spice tours to aromatic distilleries; and neighbouring Changuu Island, home to stunning sandy beaches, a historic prison, and dozens of giant, ancient tortoises.

Honeymoon to Kenya and Zanzibar

We booked our honeymoon to Kenya and Zanzibar through Indigo Safaris, and it was a great experience from start to finish. I did significant research on agents, where the UK based agents (trailfinders etc) were quoting significantly inflated prices. I was recommended to look for travel agents based in the area you are travelling to, and eventually came across Indigo. Ever since the first contact, which was a good 18 months before we travelled!, they were amazing. I knew we wanted to do a safari but it was our first one and we didnt have an idea of where or what to do. Kerry at Indigo explained the differences between the various options, and we regularly communicated over Zoom email or phone until our dream itinery is sorted. We paid a deposit on booking with the balance due 2 months before we go and you can pay in different currencies. Kerry sadly moved on to a new job before we went on holiday, but Matt continued to be a great help in anything we needed since then so the handover was seamless. The honeymoon was perfect and all of Indigos on the ground partners were amazing and testament to Indigo’s network and research into companies and guides on the ground. Indigo Safaris have seemed to grow as a business since I originally booked, which is great to see and will be recommending Indigo to all our friends and family who will consider a safari or Africa holiday in the future. Also, me and my wife have definitely got the safari bug so can't wait til we can do it again. Thank you all at Indigo, fully recommended. I am from the UK and please do not hesitate to use this company.

Tanzania – Mikumi and Zanzibar

Having a fantastic holiday! Great wildlife in Mikumi and the camp suited us perfectly. Thanks for advice on Zanzibar too, the place is ideal for kids. It will be hard to go back to Scotland tomorrow, this has brought back many happy memories of time spent living in Africa.
