One of Africa’s most unspoilt safari destinations, the area is characterised by vast floodplains, indigenous woodlands, and the mighty Zambezi River, which supports an abundance of wildlife. Visitors can expect to see elephants, hippos, buffalo, crocodiles, fish eagles, and a variety of other species in their natural habitat. The region offers a diverse range of safari experiences, including game drives, guided walking safaris, canoe excursions along the river, and some of the finest tiger fishing opportunities in Africa.

    Day 1 - 4

    Chula Island Camp is a stunning tented camp with all the luxuries one could wish for, but with the charm and ethos of a true seasonal bush-camp. With just 5 guest tents, catering for no more than 10 people in camp at once - each tent is carefully and expertly located for the best possible views across the Zambezi River. The Chula tents are bespoke and very comfortable, with high quality linen and mattresses, alongside flushing toilets, running water taps and traditional bucket-showers! A main area stretch-canvas tent set beneath massive Natal Mahogany trees makes for an exceptional location for meals, reading, charging cameras and wildlife watching.

Day 1

Day Notes:

You will catch a light aircraft flight from Lusaka to the local airstrip in the Lower Zambezi National Park. Once you arrive, you will be met and transferred by road to Chula Island Camp or Kutali Camp, which will be your home for the next 3 nights. If time allows, you will go on a first, shared afternoon game drive after check-in. If you do not arrive in time for that, enjoy a sundowner from camp - wildlife might well join you there, too.

Musekese Concession, Zambia

Based on the banks of the Kafue River, deep within Kafue National Park, Musekese's landscape shifts between miombo woodlands and open plains, and waterways, creating a environment that support a wide range of wildlife. Elephant herds are frequently seen during the dry season, while plains game such as sable, hartebeest, zebra, and large numbers of puku are common across the grasslands. Birding is particularly rewarding, with hundreds of species recorded in the area. A permanent, water-fed lagoon—locally called a dambo—draws wildlife throughout the year. Canoe safaris offer a quiet way to explore river channels rich in birds and hippos. Game drives and walking safaris help visitors explore further. A visit to the Musekese Conservation NGO Research Centre provides insight into ongoing efforts to protect the area.

    Day 4 - 7

    Perched on the edge of a spectacular lagoon hidden away from the outside world Musekese Camp has made a name for itself with expert guiding, exceptional food and phenomenal wildlife. Explore this game-rich area by vehicle, foot, or boat along the emerald green Kafue River.

Day Notes:

After your shared morning game drive and breakfast,  you will be transferred to the local airstrip for your light aircraft flight to Central Kafue. Here you will spend the next 3 nights on safari. After you check in at Musekese Camp, you will enjoy a shared afternoon game drive in your new surroundings.

The British colonial city is a tourism centre for the nearby Victoria Falls, Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, and the Zambezi River. Continuously growing, this romantic destination is rich in culture and history, with a host of adrenaline-infused experiences to choose from including bungee jumping, abseiling, gorge swinging, white water rafting, kayaking, canoeing, and jet boating. For visitors seeking a more relaxed experience, there are countless other activities on offer too. Visit the fascinating Livingstone Museum, take a helicopter flight over the roaring fall, or experience a superb game drive in the UNESCO-listed Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, home to African elephants, hippopotamus, and an impressive variety of bird species.

After an early morning game drive and breakfast, if time allows, you will be transferred to the local airstrip for your light aircraft flight to Livingstone Airport. When you land, you will be transferred to The David Livingstone Safari Lodge & Spa, where you will spend the last two nights.
