The south is probably the least explored region in Madagascar. The vegetation here is different from the rest of the country, being made up of semi-arid spiny vegetation, with baobab trees dotted around. There are still lemurs, sifakas and chameleons to be found here, but this is the area you come to for an off-the-beaten track peaceful safari where you don't want to change lodge every two nights. There are only two lodges in the south which we recommend, Mandrare River Camp & Manfiafy Beach & Rainforest Lodge.
