Best Times to Visit Livingstone

Seasons of Spray, Sun, and Safari

Livingstone, the adventure capital of Zambia, offers year-round excitement centred around the mighty Victoria Falls and the wild Zambezi River. Each season brings a unique experience, from the thunder of high-water cascades to serene sunsets over the river.

🌀 February to June – Victoria Falls at Its Most Powerful

This is the best time to visit for those wanting to witness the falls in full flow. The Zambezi River is at its peak, and the mist rising from the gorge creates rainbows visible for miles — a truly awe-inspiring sight.

🌀 July to September – Clear Views and Safari Adventures

As the water level drops, visibility improves, revealing the full rock face of the falls. It’s also prime time for wildlife safaris in nearby Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park and for enjoying river cruises, microlight flights, and sunset photography.

🌀 October to November – Warm and Quiet

The hottest months of the year bring fewer tourists, calm river conditions, and fantastic opportunities for activities such as white-water rafting and Devil’s Pool swims at the edge of the falls.

🌀 December to January – Lush and Refreshing

The first rains transform the landscape into a vivid green paradise. While water levels begin to rise, this is an excellent time for birdwatching and enjoying a quieter, more tranquil Livingstone experience.
