Humpback Whale Snorkelling
From $3,200Alina Dominica Sperm Whales
As all Indigo Safari trips I have done it was well organized and relaxing. The highlight was obviously swimming with the whales. I appreciate and respect Christopher's insistence of following protocol and not chasing or harassing animals…added bonus-it always leads to better interactions! Christopher has in depth knowledge of the village and surrounding areas and the land tour was a must for adventure and learning more about the island. Back to the whales which as I said are the star of the trip-the boat crew were excellent and very dedicated to getting us as many encounters as possible. It was an amazing week with memories that will stay with me!
Sarah G – Beach & Safari South Africa
Every detail was flawless. We saw the Big Five in Kruger, and then spent five blissful days on Benguerra Island. Thank you for making our dream trip so easy.
Pemba Island Break
came home feeling relaxed refreshed and revitalized, ready to take on the new year, so I feel we had a “real” holiday. All the diving was outstanding with unbelievably excellent visibility. Two dives in particular were very special for me –one was exhilarating flying through the current at Emelio’s back passage and the other was another dive site at Fundu Gap (I think it was Manta Point) where the coral and the fish were superb. The service from all the staff was attentive and caring. Craig and Sam were very professional and excellent dive leaders, as well as being fun, interesting and good company. Elaf created some delicious fish dishes, all meals were so beautifully presented.
17-Day Northern Tanzania Safari Expedition with Zanzibar Beach Break
Some days passed since we got back to Argentina. We just wanted to thank you for your support and assistance in our trip to Tanzania, which was an incredible experience for us as a family, one of the most beautiful trips we made by far! Send our regards to Christopher as well please. Hope we can plan a trip again soon!
Kenya – 14-day Tailor-made Kenya Safari & Beach Break
We had an outstanding experience with Indigo Safaris! Kerry crafted our Kenyan trip to perfection, tailoring every detail to our preferences. Our adventure included game drives through Masai Mara, Nairobi National Park, Amboseli, and Tsavo West. Kerry's advice was invaluable, particularly her suggestion to visit Lake Naivasha, which turned out to be an incredibly unique and worthwhile stop.
Every lodge we stayed at was exceptional, offering perfect accommodations, delicious food, and warm, welcoming staff. We truly appreciated Kerry's reliable guidance, sound advice, and excellent recommendations throughout the trip.
Overall, I cannot recommend Indigo Safaris highly enough. Although it was a significant investment for us, the trip truly delivered incredible value.
Pemba Island, Crater, Central Serengeti, and Tarangire National Park Honeymoon
The Ayana was absolutely stunning, I think probably the nicest resort that either of us have ever stayed at. Gorgeous grounds, gorgeous rooms, lovely staff, and the food blew us away — it was fine dining level, which was even more impressive considering the resort location. We were excited for dinner every night to see what new, interesting, and delicious things were on the menu
The diving was wonderful, very professional and stocked with solid gear, and the small group size (we never had more than four other divers with us) relative to the number of dive guides (two on every trip) was great. We loved our dive guide, who made us feel super comfortable and managed to help us see everything on our bucket list, including a turtle and octopus. The diving was just stunning, unlike anything we had ever seen before, with amazing coral and really interesting walls and ridges. We also really enjoyed the variety of dives, which included a mangrove diving experience. Finally, we appreciated that they would take us to little beaches and coves for surface intervals—a really nice way to spend the time.
Moving on to safari, we were blown away by wildlife that we saw on safari. We had no idea that we would get to see so many animals so consistently. In addition to TONs of giraffes, zebras, hippos, buffalo, baboons, antelope, wildebeest, warthogs, and ostrich, we saw MANY elephants and lions doing a whole variety of activities, including playing in water holes (elephants) and lions hunting successfully, eating a buffalo, and climbing trees, plus a pride of 20 male, female, and baby lions lounging and playing. We also even managed to see a rhino, leopards, and a cheetah, so checked off our full big 5. It was truly beyond our wildest expectations. It felt like at each park we went to, we saw more than the park before. We were glad that we did all three (Ngorogoro, Serengeti, and Tarangire) because each felt unique and different.
Our safari guide was wonderful — so knowledgeable and willing to go above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience, and also just a fun, enjoyable person to spend 5 days with — he felt like a friend by the end.
We really enjoyed all of the lodges and camps that we stayed at on safari. The staff at each were so warm and friendly. Tarangire Ndovu was especially a highlight for us —we enjoyed relaxing at the beautiful pool and common area after a long day on safari, and the tents were super luxurious.

Humpback Whale Snorkelling in the Turks & Caicos
Each year, thousands of humpback whales migrate from the icy waters of the Arctic and North Atlantic to the warm shallows of the Caribbean. Among the most remarkable destinations to witness this journey is Salt Cay in the Turks and Caicos. Far from the crowds of Silver Banks, Salt Cay offers a rare chance to encounter mother and calf pairs, escorts, and even competitive groups in a serene, almost untouched setting. With just a handful of visitors on the water each day, it is one of the most intimate and rewarding whale experiences on earth.
Why Visit Salt Cay for Whale Encounters
The world’s most intimate whale experience
Salt Cay’s unique geography creates the perfect stage for humpback whales. Here, fewer boats, clear waters, and natural migration funnels combine to offer a front-row seat to the whales’ most captivating behaviours.
Salt Cay lies at the heart of one of the largest breeding and calving grounds in the world, attracting an estimated 3,000–5,000 humpback whales each season. The Turks Islands Passage acts as a natural funnel, drawing whales close to the shore and creating an unrivalled density of sightings. Unlike Silver Banks, here you’ll often be the only boat in sight, allowing for uninterrupted encounters.
On a typical outing, you may see mothers tenderly guiding their calves, escorts patrolling nearby, or groups of males competing for attention. In-water interactions range from fleeting two-minute moments to breathtaking hour-long sessions. Freediving is not permitted, but gentle snorkelling alongside these giants provides unforgettable memories.
Beyond the whales, Salt Cay is a sanctuary of tranquillity. With fewer than 100 residents, a scattering of donkeys, and a single dive shop, this island offers a timeless charm. Explore its salt-raking heritage, dive or snorkel coral reefs, watch for birds, or simply relax in a seafront cottage.
