Olderkesi Conservancy, Kenya

Olderkesi Conservancy stretches across the southeastern corner of the Mara, near the Tanzanian border, forming a vital corridor for wildlife moving between the Serengeti and Kenya’s Maasai Mara National Reserve. Each year, wildebeest and zebra thunder through these grasslands during the Great Migration, watched closely by lions, cheetahs, and hyenas. Elephants, giraffes, and antelope roam freely across riverine valleys, forests, and woodlands, while birds, reptiles, and smaller mammals thrive in the quieter corners of the landscape. The Maasai, original inhabitants of the area, still live here as semi-nomadic pastoralists, guiding large herds of cattle across the plains and keeping their cultural traditions alive.

    Day 1 - 4

    Experience the unspoiled Masai Mara up close and personal at the “Instinct of the Mara” lodge. Hidden away in a corner of Olderkesi Conservancy the camp celebrates the true luxury of privacy and endless possibilities. Here, the magical “Out of Africa” feeling is ever-present. Embedded in the untouched nature of the 7,600 acre conservancy in the secluded southeast of the Masai Mara, guests enjoy unforgettable safaris in one of the most beautiful and animal-rich areas of Kenya.

Day 1

Day Notes:

Board your light aircraft flight to the Olderkesi Conservancy. Once you land, you will be met and transferred to Instinct of the Mara Camp, where you will spend 3 nights. You can enjoy a shared afternoon game drive, depending on what time your flight lands.

Balloon safaris and village visits can also be arranged for an additional fee.

*For additional game drives into the Maasai Mara National Reserve besides what is included above, park fees of US$ 100 - $200 per person have to be paid, depending on the season.

Tsavo West National Park, Kenya

Located in Taita-Taveta County in south-eastern Kenya, Tsavo West National Park covers more than 9,000 square kilometres, making it one of the country’s largest and most dramatic protected areas. Its varied scenery includes volcanic cones, lava flows, rocky outcrops, swamps, wooded grasslands, riverine forests, plains, lakes, and natural springs. The otherworldly Shetani Lava Flows, named after the Swahili word for “devil”, spread across the savannah in striking black layers. Other notable features include Chaimu Crater, the panoramic viewpoint at Roaring Rocks, and Mzima Springs, a series of crystal-clear freshwater pools that sustain hippos, crocodiles, and abundant birdlife. Wildlife enthusiasts can look for highly endangered black rhinos at the Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary, alongside elephants, buffalo, waterbuck, eland, impala, Maasai giraffe, and many other species.

    Day 4 - 7

    The place you return to again and again“. This is what Kipalo means in the language of the Taitas, the tribe living in the region. No wonder – the view from the slopes of the Mbulia Hills over the vast plains of Tsavo West and the Ngulia Hills to the majestic Mt. Kilimanjaro is simply breathtaking. If you are looking for seclusion, privacy and unforgettable encounters with Kenya‘s unique wildlife, then Kipalo Hills is the place for you. The camp, which nestles perfectly against the rocky hillside, was established in Mbulia Conservancy which borders Tsavo West National Park, and which covers almost 36,000 acres.

Day 4

Day Notes:

After a shared morning game drive (time permitting) and breakfast, you will be transferred back to the local airstrip for your flight back to Nairobi Airport. Once you arrive at the airport, you will board your light aircraft flight to the Tsavo West National Park. Once you land, you will be met and transferred to Kipalo Hills, where you will spend 3 nights. You can go out on a shared afternoon game drive, depending on what time your flight lands.

Kenya – 14-Day Tailor-made Kenya Safari

Indigo organised everything perfectly, from the remarkable local driver guide to the choice of locations and accommodation.
The safari destinations were wonderful in every way, although the mass migration had left us behind by October. A short stopover between the national parks was at Lake Naivasha, including a boat ride and walking with the animals, and a guided bike ride and hike through Hell's canyon.
A personal driver guide means that you can watch the wildlife for as long as you want - and we certainly did. We saw hundreds of elephants in total but we could also just sit and observe their behaviour for hours if we wished.

In the beginning, we were a little concerned that Indigo Safaris' claimed expertise and super feedback might just be too good to be true.
I am happy to report that Indigo Safaris are exceptional and deserve their accolades and more. A wonderful experience worth every penny.
