Nestled within a sprawling 300-acre private expanse along the picturesque shores of Lake Burunge in Mwada, our lodge boasts a prime position with sweeping vistas overlooking Tarangire National Park. Day 1
Day Notes:
After a short briefing in the morning, your safari will set off towards the Tarangire National Park. This park with its savannah, seasonal swamps and the life-giving Tarangire River is home to huge elephant herds – literally hundreds of animals. After an extensive game drive, you will leave the park in the late afternoon and head to the Lake Burunge Baobab Tented Lodge where you will spend the night.

Day 2
Day Notes:
Leaving the Serengeti early this morning you should take this opportunity and watch out for more predators – when the temperatures are cooler, big cats are more active and embark on the hunt. You will arrive in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area in the late morning and drive into the world-famous Crater just before lunch time for a spectacular last game drive of your safari.
This large inactive volcanic caldera is seasonally home to more than 25.000 animals. Large herds of zebras, buffaloes and prides of lions roam the crater floor. The steep crater walls covered in thick mountain forest are always visible, marking the boundaries of this haven for wildlife – a truly unique place. Day 3 - 5
Serengeti Kati Kati is a mobile tented camp located in Central Serengeti, strategically located to cover the vast Serengeti Plains. The camp offers comfortable accommodation and a unique opportunity to enjoy a real safari camp experience, just a two-hour scenic drive from Olduvai Gorge Museum and Grumeti River.
Day 3
Day Notes:
Your first morning in Tanzania starts with a canoe trip across Lake Victoria. Together with a local fisherman, you sail across the largest lake in Africa, while he explains how to catch fish the traditional way. Back at the fishing village, you can admire last night’s catch. It is now time to return to the bush for more wildlife encounters. After a short one hour drive, you will reach the gate of the Serengeti and your game drive begins.
Together with the Masai Mara, the Serengeti is host to the Great Migration of wildebeest and zebras. If you have missed the herds in Kenya, this is your chance to see this natural spectacle in Tanzania. The name Serengeti translates to “endless plains” and you will quickly notice why: open grassland as far as you can see will take your breath away. These seemingly endless plains are dotted with kopjes, large rock formations, and preferred spot for lions to take a nap. In the late afternoon, you will arrive at the Kati Kati Tented Camp. In the middle of the Serengeti this exclusive and unfenced tented camp will get you as close to nature as few others.

Together with your guide you have all day to continue your exploration of the national park. Go right when others go left and you will experience private moments amongst Tanzania’s wildlife.
The Serengeti is known for its large prides of lions, lazing under shade-giving acacia trees. Keep your eyes peeled on the branches of the trees and you may spot a leopard, devouring its recent kill. No day on safari is like the other and you will be amazed about new sightings on day eight of your great East African safari. Return to the Kati Kati Tented Camp and join the other guests in front of the “bush TV”, the campfire crackling in the night.

Day 7
Day Notes:
Heading out bright and early you have the whole day to explore the Masai Mara Game Reserve. If you visit during the Great Migration when hundreds of thousands of wildebeest and zebras follow the rain and migrate to Kenya from Tanzania’s Serengeti, make a stop at the Mara River. Here you may be in luck and witness a river-crossing when the herbivores cross the river, trying to avoid the snatch of a hungry crocodile. The beautiful thing about today: you have time. You are in no rush and can experience each moment to the fullest.
Once you have seen the Big Five, turn your eye to the other animals: hyenas and cheetahs roam the savannah, waterbucks and zebras come to the rivers to quench their thirst, while hippos protect their sensitive skin from the sun in the murky waters. Return to Julia’s River Camp for stories around the dinner table and another night in the bush.

Tanzania – Tarangire, Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater Safari
Our safari in Tanzania was truly unforgettable. From the moment we arrived at Serengeti National Park, everything was fantastic — the camp was perfect, and the experience exceeded our expectations. The warm welcome, enthusiasm, attention, and constant smiles from everyone made our stay even more special.
At Tarangire, we once again enjoyed excellent service, a beautiful tent, and wonderful hospitality. Everything was perfectly organized. We were still delighted with our stay and overall experience.
From start to finish, the trip went smoothly and was perfectly managed. For a first safari in Tanzania, it was an incredible success. Thank you, Christopher, and the entire team for making this such a memorable adventure!
Family Safari to Tanzania: Arusha, Tarangire National Park, Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Central Serengeti, Northern Serengeti, Zanzibar
We had a a great time! This was our first family safari, and it really hit the spot. The planning was thorough and detailed, and the choice of camps and hotel perfect. All the transfers worked seamlessly, and Christopher found us places to stay that we would not have found on our own. Thank you so much.
Kenya
“We had a great experience with Indigo Safari. Everything was perfect. Ines was so kind and always so quick to respond to all our questions and concerns… I do recommend Indigo Safari: amazing service…”
Jean 11-day Botswana & Victoria Falls Zimbabwe Value-For-Money Safari – Private fly-in
Matt at Indigo Safaris arranged a fantastic trip for us! He was so helpful; willing to investigate every crazy request and answer every question :)
We experienced a wide range of habitats, from delta to desert, and saw the Big 5 plus so much more. A highlight of the trip was something we’d never heard of until Matt suggested it - a night sleeping under the African sky on an open 2-story platform, alongside a waterhole visited by lions, elephants, and other wild creatures throughout the night. The stars were absolutely magical!
All the internal flights arrived like clockwork. We were delighted with the intimate “mid-range” camps we chose with Matt’s advice. Each of them was very comfortable, employed lovely staff, offered good food, and had prompt laundry service. One of the best features of our trip was having close-up encounters with elephants and other animals as they roamed through these small camps.
We followed up our adventure with a stay at the Victoria Falls Safari Lodge, and it was the perfect touch of luxury after our time in the bush.
We’ve enjoyed previous safaris in Tanzania, Kenya, and the Pantanal Wetlands of Brazil, and we were delighted that Matt and Indigo were able to provide such a totally different experience for us. Would love to work with them again someday!
Kenya Bush and Beach
I worked with Matthew for over 18 months creating the Perfect Kenyan Safari + Chale Island Beach vacation for my husband and I. He was so very patient with me, answered every single question of mine (and there were a LOT of questions - as neither my husband nor I had ever been to Africa!), and gave us all the tips of traveling in Africa, where to go, where NOT to go - and worked with us in such a kind manner while also keeping our budget in mind. I would HIGHLY recommend Indigo Safaris as a tour operator to anyone that wants that Perfect experience in a different land, while also keeping us very safe as well!!!!
Uganda & Kenya – 13-day Tailor-made Uganda & Kenya Safari
Indigo Safaris provided us with an ideal itinerary for our travel to Uganda and Kenya. They were quick to respond to all our communications and were full of great options or ideas and very pleasant to deal with. Kerry Wyatt with Indigo Safaris was our main contact when we made our initial contact with that company to assist us with planning a once in a lifetime trip to East Africa for a gorilla trek and safari experience. She was terrific in setting up an ideal travel itinerary for the two of us, very pleasant and in spite of the time difference was very prompt in providing responses to us with very good input and ideas for our travel.
