Why Visit Socorro
Where Ocean Giants Gather
An extraordinary archipelago teeming with life.
The Revillagigedo Islands—San Benedicto, Socorro, and Roca Partida—are often referred to as Mexico’s Galápagos. Remote, pristine, and brimming with marine life, they are the only place in the world where you are guaranteed close interactions with giant Pacific mantas. These majestic rays, with wingspans of up to 9 metres, often seek out divers, gliding within arm’s reach and maintaining eye contact in moments you’ll never forget.
Beyond the mantas, Socorro offers encounters with up to 12 species of shark, including hammerheads, silkies, Galapagos, and whitetips, as well as playful bottlenose dolphins and enormous schools of pelagic fish. It is also one of the few destinations where humpback whale encounters while diving are possible, making every dive site a theatre of awe.
