    Day 1 - 4

Settlers Drift (5-star) is located in a remote and untouched part of the Kariega wilderness, offering a unique tented safari combined with 5-star luxury. Gazing down from the deck overlooking the Bushmans river drift, it feels as if time has stood still as the last feet to have touched this remote valley were those of the 1820 Settlers as they guided their wagons across the river. The lodge consists of 9 spacious tented suites (each 110m²). This luxuriously appointed and perfectly positioned tented lodge delivers the ultimate guest experience, with unrivalled panoramic views over valley plains. No children under 10 years.

Day 1

Day Notes:

Make your way to Kariega Settlers Drift to arrive by 1:00 PM. You will be met at the jetty from where you will start your boat transfer up the Bushmans River by boat, followed by a short road transfer to the lodge. Settle-in, freshen up and have lunch before joining your first shared afternoon game drive.

If you can't make it to the jetty for 1pm, a road transfer all the way to the lodge can be organised, too.

We can assist with a rental car if you are planning a more extensive journey, possibly along the Garden Route. Alternatively, we can arrange transfers from and back to Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth).

  • Check-in to Kariega Settlers Drift

  • Shared afternoon game drive

Day 2 - 3

Day Notes:

The morning activity starts at sunrise. You will be woken up before sunrise for tea and coffee before it starts. Then you are off for 2-3 hours to find as many animals as possible before they all find trees to hide under in the heat of the day.

When you return to the lodge, you will be served a cooked breakfast and have time to relax. You can sit by the pool, read a book, take a nap and just absorb being out in the bush.

The afternoon activity, will start around 16:00, after high tea. It will last for +2-3 hours, with a stop somewhere for sundowners. You will return to the lodge in the dark, with a spotlight to look for nocturnal animals.

  • Bush walks
  • Canoening
  • Shared morning and afternoon safari activities

Excellent recommendations for an unforgettable trip

Indigo recommended several options for our trip, and we finally decided on Umkumbe Bush Lodge for our 3 night safari - it was an incredible unforgettable experience, the lodge itself was wonderful with great amenities, excellent food/drinks, and great tour guides. We saw all of the big 5 along with countless other wildlife, and I would highly recommend the whole experience.

Manyeleti Game Reserve perfect stay

We stayed at the Honeyguide Mantobeni Camp in the Manyeleti Game Reserve which boarders without a fence to Kruger National Park. The location, camp and accommodations were superb. Michele, our Safari consultant did an outstanding job on understanding what we wanted. Her service and our Safari were perfect 10's!!

Shannon went above and beyond for my son and I on our trip of a lifetime!

From the minute I met Shannon, she wanted to make sure we had the best trip. She planned amazing experiences for my son and I. We went to Botswana, Zimbabwe and South Africa and everything was perfect. Whenever I had any questions, Shannon always got back to me right away! I definitely recommend her to plan this memorable trip.

South Africa – 6-day Eastern Cape Safari & Cape Town

Michele was wonderful to work with. She was patient with our large group while we changed dates and plans. She was able to guide us through the process and ultimately planned the BEST vacation for us. Every detail from transport, to celebrating my Mom's birthday at every turn, to accommodations, tours and more was clearly thought out! I would highly recommend Michele and Indigo Safaris! You will not be disappointed.

Excellent!

SOUTH AFRICA – SABI SAND SAFARI & GARDEN ROUTE SELF-DRIVE ADVENTURE

My husband and I travelled to South Africa recently and was looking for someone with hands on experience to help with organising/booking our trip. We came across Indigo Safaris and specifically dealt with Ines who was amazing. They run a very professional efficient business, replying within 24 hrs (even though we are in Australia and they Seychelles). All our bookings etc were fantastic and very much to our liking everything ran very smoothly and would not hesitate in using Indigo Safaris (Ines) again and highly recommend anyone else to use them.
