Makalali Private Game Reserve, South Africa

Situated in the Lowveld region of Limpopo, the Makalali Private Game Reserve - also known as the Makalali Conservancy - covers over 22 000 hectares of pristine African bushveld stretching across a series of rolling hills. Makalali, meaning ‘Place of Rest’ in Shangaan aims to create a sanctuary for the diversity of fauna and flora in the area and re-establish the ancient wildlife corridor that connects the Drakensberg Mountains with the Kruger National Park. It is home to the infamous Big Five which includes lion, rhino, leopard, elephant, and buffalo. Visitors can look forward to soaking up magnificent views, spotting an abundance of wildlife and enjoying magical African sunsets. Don’t miss the opportunity to jump on a thrilling safari through the African bush. Other commonly spotted species include: cheetah, kudu, giraffe, and zebra.

    Day 1 - 4

    aha Makalali River Lodge is situated on the banks of the Makhutswi River. All the camps at this 5-star lodge are private yet offer easy access to one another. Each suite has a raised timber viewing deck to provide spectacular views over the Makhutswi River from which to observe the bird life and game. Amenities include air-conditioning, a wood-burning fireplace, a fully stocked minibar fridge, and a tea/coffee station. Guests can also enjoy the convenience of the plunge pool, boma, fireplace, an enclosed dining and lounge area, and an en-suite bathroom with an indoor and outdoor shower and a bath.

Upon landing at Hoedspruit Airport, you will be met and transferred to aha Makalali River Lodge, your home in the bush for the next 3 nights. You will be able to enjoy your first shared afternoon game drive.
