Day 1

Day Notes:

Your African adventure begins in Cape Town. Day One takes us into the Cape Winelands and along Route 62, the longest and most mountainous wine route in the world.

After lunch in one of the charming towns, you will have time to sample some of the best wines in the world at a celebrated vineyard (both at your own expense). South Africa is justifiably famous for its wine industry, which dates back to the 17th century, making it one of the oldest in the world. There are 148 wine farms along our route. Our final destination is Oudtshoorn, the ostrich capital of the world and home to the world’s largest ostrich population.

Nestled between the towering Swartberg and Outeniqua Mountains, the town seems to be in a different, slower time. Oudtshoorn produces its own wine and brandy. You may be tempted to sample a glass as you enjoy dinner (at your own expense) and the local cuisine in town.

Driving Time: ~420 kilometres/5 hours

  • Transfer from Cape Town Harbour to Queen's Hotel Oudtshoorn

  • Check-in to Queen's Hotel Oudtshoorn

Day 2

Day Notes:

A Meerkat Adventure (at your own expense) will introduce you to this endearing creature. Watch the burrowing member of the mongoose family as it hunts for beetles, rodents, or snakes.

Enjoy your breakfast and then prepare for an experience in the subterranean, enchanted realm of the Cango Caves. Look forward to a delicious farm lunch (at your own expense) and an interactive ostrich farm tractor tour. Time permitting, we will visit a school that is the community project of the ostrich farm.

Visit the captivating exhibits in the CP Nel Museum (at your own expense), to learn about the ostrich trade in the Victorian era and the history of the town. With leisure time in the evening, head into town to explore and find the restaurant that appeals to your taste – there are plenty to choose from.

It is recommended to pre-book the Oudtshoorn Meerkat Excursion in advance.

Driving Time: ~70 kilometres/40 minutes

SOUTH AFRICA – SABI SAND SAFARI & GARDEN ROUTE SELF-DRIVE ADVENTURE

My husband and I travelled to South Africa recently and was looking for someone with hands on experience to help with organising/booking our trip. We came across Indigo Safaris and specifically dealt with Ines who was amazing. They run a very professional efficient business, replying within 24 hrs (even though we are in Australia and they Seychelles). All our bookings etc were fantastic and very much to our liking everything ran very smoothly and would not hesitate in using Indigo Safaris (Ines) again and highly recommend anyone else to use them.

Cannot fault Indigo Safaris - highly recommend

South Africa: 19-day Cape Town, Garden Route & Madikwe Safari

This was my second trip through Indigo Safaris, after Papua New Guinea in August. It came about at the last minute as the coup in Madagascar cancelled a trip booked previously through another company. Christopher spring into action and put together a wonderful itinerary for a trip combining a self-drive along the Garden Route that was so much easier than I thought it would be, tours around Cape Town, and a safari to Madikwe before returning to the Cape.
The accommodations were excellent, and that was before we got an upgrade in Cape Town, the scenery so varied, and the wildlife stunning. I'm looking forward to seeing what can be put together for our next trip with more than one week's notice!

South Africa – Cape Town, Greater Kruger Honeymoon

Working with Ines at Indigo Safaris was an absolute dream! From start to finish, the entire planning process was seamless, stress-free, and truly exciting. This was our first time using a travel agent or tour operator, and we were a bit skeptical at first—but Ines quickly put all our worries to rest. Her flexibility, attention to detail, and genuine care turned our South African honeymoon dreams into reality. Plus she was quick to respond!

She worked within our budget, tailored everything to our preferences, and made planning our Cape Town + Safari adventure so effortless and fun. Every moment of the trip exceeded our expectations—we seriously can’t stop raving about it!

We’ve already started recommending Indigo Safaris to friends and family who are considering a safari. If you’re on the fence—just do it. Booking with Ines was hands-down one of the best decisions we made for our honeymoon. We’re beyond grateful!!!
