Mikumi National Park, Tanzania

Situated just 300 kilometres from the capital, Mikumi is Tanzania’s fourth-largest park and one of its most accessible national parks. The landscape is characterised by low-lying wetlands flanked by mountains on either side. Diverse wildlife inhabits the park’s 3230-square-kilometre area, including lion, buffalo, buck, civet, crocodile, snake, lizard, hippo, zebra and even packs of wild dogs, which are seldom seen in other parts of the continent. The floodplain also supports over 400 species of bird, both resident and migratory species. Visitors can look forward to various activities including wildlife viewing, bird watching, visiting the educational and research centre, and viewing the massive collection of baobabs near Mbuyuni.

    Day 1 - 4

Stanley's Kopje enjoys the advantage of being the only elevated land in an otherwise flat open plain. A nearby waterhole encourages game within sight of the Camp and the whole Mwanamboga area is generaly perceived to be the better game viewing area in the park. Stanley’s Kopje perches high on a rocky kopje, enjoying fine 360 degree views over the surrounding Mikumi wilderness, whilst the 12 tents are spaced around the lower perimeter of the hill, with stunning views across the plains. The tents are pitched on high wooden platforms with traditionally built thatched roofs which provide shade from the sun while you sit on your veranda and enjoy the game around the camp.

Tanzania – Mikumi and Zanzibar

Having a fantastic holiday! Great wildlife in Mikumi and the camp suited us perfectly. Thanks for advice on Zanzibar too, the place is ideal for kids. It will be hard to go back to Scotland tomorrow, this has brought back many happy memories of time spent living in Africa.

Southern Tanzania Safari

As a first-time, solo, female traveler for a fly-in Tanzania safari, I could not have chosen a more professional and easy to work with travel company. Ines proved to be knowledgeable in all aspects of my trip, from securing a Tanzania eVisa, to light aircraft flights within the country, to detailed descriptions of the camps I would visit.
Ines also quickly responded to my questions regarding game drives/vehicles, dining and, in general, what I could expect at the lodges She also listened to what I had to say--something I consider vital in traveler-tour agent relationships.

Thanks to the efforts of Ines and Indigo Safaris, I'm determined to take another safari next year.
