Day 1 - 4
Ruaha River Lodge was the only safari camp in the national park for two decades, before Tanzania opened to international tourism. As a pioneer of its time this allowed for its prime position along the river and far from any other safari lodges. The lodge’s remoteness is its defining feature and greatest selling point, leaving guests feeling that they have Ruaha National Park seemingly all to themselves.

Day 1
Day Notes:
Depart from Dar es Salaam Airport with a scheduled light aircraft flight to Ruaha National Park. You will be met at the local airstrip and transferred to Ruaha River Lodge, where you will spend the next 3 nights. Enjoy your first shared afternoon game drive.

Day 2 - 3
Day Notes:
Head out on an early morning game drive and then come back to the lodge for a hot breakfast, after which you can relax. After lunch, you will go out on a shared afternoon game drive and then come back to the lodge for dinner.
The lodge also offers morning walks, night drives and hot air ballooning at additional costs. Please enquire if you should be interested.

Day 4 - 7
Explore the remote wilderness of Katavi National Park during a Tanzanian safari experience like no other. The sounds of elephant grazing outside your tented suite is your morning alarm at Katavi Wildlife Camp, their low rumble echoing through the crisp air. The concentration of game found here rivals that of any other national park in the country. This secluded ecosystem in Western Tanzania promises exciting encounters with African wildlife, luscious landscape, Africa’s raw magic and few other travellers.
Venture off the beaten path to discover the untouched Katavi National Park. Nestled along the western safari circuit, yet easily accessible with biweekly scheduled flights with Safari Air Link, Katavi Wildlife Camp offers an intimate safari experience, inviting you to connect with nature's beauty without the crowds. Katavi Wildlife Camp is situated between the verdant Miombo woodlands and the golden grasslands of the Kitasunga Plain, near the edge of the Katuma River.
Day 4
Day Notes:
After a shared morning game drive (time permitting) and breakfast in Ruaha, you will be transferred back to the local airstrip for your flight to Katavi National Park. Once you land in Katavi, you will be met by your new guides and transferred to the lodge. Enjoy your first shared afternoon game drive in this new environment.

Excellent game drives with knowledgeable guides in both Rufiji River Camp in Selous (Nyerere National Park ) and Ruaha River Lodge in Ruaha National Park. I can't say enough about the attentive camp managers, comfortable accommodations and exceptional food in both camps.

I cannot recommend this experience enough. Indigo Safaris went above and beyond to make sure our trip was special and they certainly achieved just that.
