Gateway to Northern Tanzania’s Wild Wonders
Arusha, Tanzania's safari capital, is located in the north of the country and hence the start and end point of every northern circuit safari and also for trekking Mount Meru and Mount Kilimanjaro, of which you can have great views from the city if the skies are clear. With a population of more or less 400,000 people and another about 300,000 people living in its outskirts, Arusha is a typical buzzing African city.

Why Visit Arusha?
Gateway to Northern Tanzania’s Wild Wonders
Overall there is not much to do in Arusha, so we do mainly book it as pre- and post safari stop. If you have however half a day available to have a look around, then we recommend to take part in a coffee tasting, or visit the Maasai Market or Shanga, a successful social enterprise which employs people with disabilities to create unique glassware and home wares incorporating recycled materials.
Also very close to Arusha and very much overlooked is Arusha National Park. The park is located in the foothills of Mount Meru and offers great things to do away from the crowds like canoeing on the Momela Lakes, walking and gentle game drives. Talk to us if you are interested in adding Arusha National Park to your safari.
